Explosion Proof Valves are used in applications where there is a danger of fire or explosion due to the presence of flammable gases, vapors or easily ignitable dust. This includes applications such as chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and petrochemical production, brewing, food processing and paper making. Explosion proof solenoid valves are available in a range of sizes from 1/4″ to 1/2″ and in voltages from 6V to 24V.

While the terms intrinsically safe and explosion-proof can be confusing, they are two distinct devices with very different protection techniques. Intrinsically safe means the equipment itself won’t cause an explosion, while explosion-proof protects it from a dangerous surrounding environment by preventing the spread of the explosion.

An explosion-proof solenoid valve encloses all parts that can create sparks, arcs and dangerous temperatures into an enclosure. The shell can withstand any joint surface or structural gap of the cover and it can penetrate an internal combustible mixture without causing damage.

All of our explosion-proof solenoid valves are ATEX/IEC Ex certified and can be used in hazardous environments. These certifications are achieved by evaluating the equipment and its components according to specific standards that include governing body approvals such as NEMA, IEC Ex, and ATEX. We provide an extensive range of 2-way, 3-way and 4-way ASCO ATEX/IECEx explosion proof solenoid valves that are capable of handling a variety of flow control requirements in various industries.
